Roxy
Roxy came into our lives in June, 2012. Our previous beautiful Airedale, Blossom, had passed away in April of that year leaving our home silent and vacant. By June, I knew it was time to find our next rescue. I went onto the NWATR site and soon saw the picture of Roxy (Pixie). She was being fostered by Diane Hartzell in the Seattle area. I grabbed a friend and went to meet Ms Roxy/Pixie one beautiful Sunday in the middle of June. We visited with Roxy/Pixie and she was sweet and gentle. A week later I returned to Diane’s house and adopted Roxy as my own. She jumped into my car and fell asleep in the backseat on the way to her new forever home.
Roxy was an amazing Airedale. My husband and I fell head over heels in love with her. She was sweet, loving, gentle, and kind. She never once growled at either of us, even when my husband teased her by pretending to eat her food! She came to work with me every day and loved it! She had her own bed in my office and loved greeting all of my clients as they came and went. We would happily go for a midday walk and then return to the office for the remainder of the day.
Roxy’s only weird quirk was seeking out dirty underwear in the house and tearing it apart. If left to her own devices for even a short time, anyone’s underwear was fair game. My daughter and I lost the most pairs but my husband lost his share as well. But we never got mad at her. It just made us laugh and shake our heads and return to Costco for new underwear. We loved so many special things about her. Watching her do her “happy dance” after she enjoyed a good dinner every night. How gently she would take treats from anyone’s hands. How trusting she was of anything we would need to do for her medically. How much she loved her long daily walks that grew shorter and slower as her time on earth drew closer to the end.
We will love and miss Roxy for the rest of our lives. She was a very special member of our family and the sweetest girl you can imagine. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully with her head in my lap and my hand gently stroking her while assuring her that all will be okay.
Many thanks to NWATR for the privilege of having this amazing creature in our lives for 3 ½ wonderful years. I am thankful that her first family loved her enough to give her up to NWATR for a second chance at a great life. She deserved to be spoiled and cared for her entire life.
I hope she is running freely now without any pain, chasing squirrels and bunnies, and playing ‘chase me’ with other dogs. We will always love you Roxy! Thank you for gracing us with your beautiful soul for the last years of your time on earth. Mom & Dad
Andy
My Wife and I adopted "Andy" in September 2013! Andy was 8 years old and was declared a perfect "5" by the vet at 87 lbs. I think he was just BIG, not fat !! The most sensitive, Marvelous, Funny, SMART, Loyal Dog I've ever had the Honor to be owned by ! Unfortunately Andy died of throat cancer in March 2014. He was only with us for about 6 months, but He definitely planted his Big Old Pawprint right in the middle of our hearts and now my Wife and I can't imagine having any other breed of dog. We miss Andy every day that goes Thank You so much for introducing us to such a terrific Dog! Robert J. McLaughlin
Duchess
We were so delighted to add our first ever Airedale girl to our family 2 years ago. We got her from NWATR at 17 months old and she was just a bundle of life and energy! Although we have loved all of our Airedales, she was the sweetest one we ever had!
She was so gentle, goofy and smart! She loved going for walks, riding in the car, playing with her toys and playing with her Airedale boyfriend Riley.
When we brought Duchess home, it was love at first sight for Riley. He had always been used to his Airedale brother Murray and it was clear from the moment they met that he was in love! Having a female in the house changed everything for Riley and it was fun to watch their romance. Whenever they weren't playing, you could find him laying by her side worshiping her. :) Duchess enjoyed every minute of it!!
They were the best of friends and now we are all feeling the loss of our precious girl that was with us for just a short time. September 5th, 2015 was a difficult day for us as we had to make the heart wrenching decision to put our girl to rest due to having a brain tumor.
R.I.P. our sweet girl, we all miss you so much!
Mojo Langley
Every 'Dale is unique. Each brings an abundance of love, devotion and loyalty into a home...and More. Mojo's More was his chosen vocation late in life. At the age of 10 he decided to be my business partner. Retirement age for many but the beginning of a new career for Moj.
Every morning as I prepared for work he paced anxiously, checking the clock and my state of readiness regularly. Tardiness was not an option. Finally at the front door, having successfully blocked out the other two furry wanna-bes, he charged for the truck thru the narrowest of openings leaving me stumbling for balance and smiling with a father's pride at his dedication to duty.
From his bed next to my desk he greeted all visitors with a nod and a wagging tail.
Now there is no commotion at the front door, no dancing feet ready to bound into the open door of the truck, no client that asks where Mojo is today. Only the empty bed by the desk which will remain and my smile as I both remember and mourn the loss of my partner.

Paxton
On the first day “Superman” Paxton joined our family, we played ball and went for a walk. These were his two favorite things to do other than spend time in the kitchen waiting for food to drop on the floor or putting his head in the refrigerator every time that door opened. Paxton had a great sense of humor and was very bright. Paxton knew how to spell or at least knew what “T.R.E.A.T , B.Y.E. B.Y.E., W.A.L.K, & D.O.G. P.A.R.K meant. Paxton was taught commands in both German and English.
He was the fastest dog to retrieve a ball when thrown at the dog park. He looked like the pied piper with all the dogs following him. He was friendly with other dogs and children; however he protected us and our property fiercely.
Paxton was very handsome and photogenic. He was complimented often on his regal look and confidence. Paxton was blessed to be in the May 2014 Airedale Calendar and June 2015 Airedale Calendar (Brown Trout). Paxton always smiled because we believe he was happy and loved.
On Paxton’s last day with us, he was able to play ball with and go for a walk with his “daddy”. The family and his brother, Mack The Black Ninja (Rottweiler) were with him to say goodbye and until we meet again. We love you Paxton. You made an impact with us and the world. Our doggie bedtime pray was, “Paxton, sweet dreams, I’ll see you in the morning. I love you all the day and all the night!”
Love mommy and daddy.
