Sadie

Our dear Miss Sadie crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. She gave us 11 wonderful years. Going to miss her head tilt, nuzzling and all her wonderful Airedale traits. Thank you Connie Turner for entrusting us with her care.  — with  Dwight Motz .

Lulu

Dear Connie,

We adopted Lulu from NWAR back in 2006. You coordinated the adoption for us, and we were so blessed to be able to adopt Lulu. She was just about 1 1/2 at the time, and was scared and timid. In time she opened up and became our girl. She was a member of our family, and brought every single one of us great joy. Lulu succumbed to cancer on 8/31/16. Even at the end, she was our darling, lovable bear. We are heartbroken, and will always be grateful to you & NWAR for allowing Lulu into our home. She was an angel.

Sincerely

Sadie

My Sadie lost her struggle to Cancer yesterday. I had to take her and put
her down as she became so emaciated and weak. She was diagnosed with
lymphosarcoma in January and she had been taking prednisone and tramadol for
the last 3 1/2 months. The medication kept her comfortable and we got to
extend her quality of life a little while longer as she continued to chase a
ball, but wore out pretty fast. I wanted to thank you for allowing us to adopt her. She was the best
Airedale I have ever owned. I know she got off to a pretty rocky start on
Mercer Island, but she was really never any problem for us. My Boys Matthew
and Daniel loved her very much. My wife cried very hard last night as she
told me that when she moved here from Japan; "Sadie was the only friend she
had besides me" She truly had a blessed life with us and my neighbor Bob daily would sneak
over and throw tennis balls for her. She would have been 10 this July; oh
how we wished all dogs had longer lives. Today I feel like I lost my best
friend, but it was an honor to be her master.

I have provided her picture for your remembrance page.

Thank you again.

Very Respectfully,

Tim Stewart

Emma

My Emma came to me in September, 2009.  We first met in the darkened parking lot of the Motel 6, in Eugene, Oregon.

Emma had been tied to a tree for 5 months before being rescued.  She was only 15 moths old when I adopted her so you can imagine the trauma this little one had been thru.

Emma had the cutest smile that showed up when she was happy.  Her whole body would wiggle into that smile.

Emma loved lakes, mud, streams, anything with water.  She also loved Roy (her rescued brother) and me.

Her favorite song was Happy Birthday.  Emma and Roy would sing along at every opportunity.

Just about the only thing that Emma did not like was having her photo taken.  She was so camera shy.

Emma passed away on February 21, 2016, it was a Sunday morning.  She died at home, on her bed and in my arms.

Emma was loved and is dearly missed.  She was one of the best.

Roxy

Roxy came into our lives in June, 2012.  Our previous beautiful Airedale, Blossom, had passed away in April of that year leaving our home silent and vacant.  By June, I knew it was time to find our next rescue.  I went onto the NWATR site and soon saw the picture of Roxy (Pixie).  She was being fostered by Diane Hartzell in the Seattle area.  I grabbed a friend and went to meet Ms Roxy/Pixie one beautiful Sunday in the middle of June.  We visited with Roxy/Pixie and she was sweet and gentle.  A week later I returned to Diane’s house and adopted Roxy as my own.  She jumped into my car and fell asleep in the backseat on the way to her new forever home.

Roxy was an amazing Airedale.  My husband and I fell head over heels in love with her.  She was sweet, loving, gentle, and kind.  She never once growled at either of us, even when my husband teased her by pretending to eat her food! She came to work with me every day and loved it!  She had her own bed in my office and loved greeting all of my clients as they came and went.  We would happily go for a midday walk and then return to the office for the remainder of the day.

Roxy’s only weird quirk was seeking out dirty underwear in the house and tearing it apart.  If left to her own devices for even a short time, anyone’s underwear was fair game.  My daughter and I lost the most pairs but my husband lost his share as well.  But we never got mad at her.  It just made us laugh and shake our heads and return to Costco for new underwear.  We loved so many special things about her. Watching her do her “happy dance” after she enjoyed a good dinner every night.  How gently she would take treats from anyone’s hands.  How trusting she was of anything we would need to do for her medically.  How much she loved her long daily walks that grew shorter and slower as her time on earth drew closer to the end.

We will love and miss Roxy for the rest of our lives.  She was a very special member of our family and the sweetest girl you can imagine.  She crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully with her head in my lap and my hand gently stroking her while assuring her that all will be okay.

Many thanks to NWATR for the privilege of having this amazing creature in our lives for 3 ½ wonderful years.  I am thankful that her first family loved her enough to give her up to NWATR for a second chance at a great life.  She deserved to be spoiled and cared for her entire life.

I hope she is running freely now without any pain, chasing squirrels and bunnies, and playing ‘chase me’ with other dogs.  We will always love you Roxy!  Thank you for gracing us with your beautiful soul for the last years of your time on earth.  Mom & Dad
